A Contributor’s Woe

C: Hi Weng! Send me a photo of you and a short write up for our contributors page.

W: Weng Cahiles has been writing for most parts of her life and takes pride in her book hoarding ability. She spends a lot of time looking at books and anything book-related online. One day, she hopes to retire in a house by the beach, full of bookshelves and a garden in the backyard (just like what any idealistic person in their mid-20’s has in mind).

  1. Hi, I know you get this a lot. May i ask for a copy of the 3 part story of Ang lalaking Black and White? Its been years I know. This kind of story really sticks to us, to the alumni of pup, to the people that are part of that batch where they read this story from the red and black papers that you can get from ledges, endcorner tables and chairs and this might really sound cliche, to those people who are black and white. Funny thing is even some people that i recently met (same batch) knows this story. I’m lucky enough to get the story “ang lalaking black and white”, but as far as I remember there are 3. I would really appreciate it if you were to give me a copy. Yosi? Kape?

The last part of this is when bumped with each other in an elevator, they are looking for work I think. And they smoke outside the building after. Smoking, passing some time, clearing things that were already cleared. bidding goodbye.

    1. Hi! Thank you for stumbling upon my blog. πŸ™‚
Thank you for the kind words as well. I really wasn’t aware of the ‘impact’ (if that’s what you can call it) of the things I’ve written three or four years ago. Honestly, the editor in chief was just looking for something to fill up this two whole pages of space left in the newspaper and he asked me to write a story and I did. I’m just glad that there are people like you who liked it and likes it still, up to now. I really, really appreciate it. Not to mention that the timing is perfect because I am really beginning to think of a myself as a fraud, a one-trick pony. But maybe, I can still write. πŸ™‚

As for the copies of the story, sadly, I don’t have a copy of any of the three, physical or contained in any computer or laptop. However, when I received this comment, I asked friends if they any copies stashed somewhere and some do! So once I finally got my hands on them, I will tell you immediately.

      Thank you again, kind sir!

  2. Hello again! I’m just pushing my luck to gather the remaining 2 stories but I guess my journey ends here and I do appreciate that you gave some time to respond in my silly request.

In another note, I think your writing skill is a gift. Not all people can write very well, especially when they can touch people’s heart or it remains in our mind for a very long time. (hehehe I hope I didn’t sound very ridiculous πŸ™‚ )

Anyway, my blood is already drained writing in a foreign language and I hope that I’ll stumble in another story of yours written again in a paper. Cheers!
